Hines Contemporary Fine Art
Biography
b. 1956 New York City
Hines, born and raised in New York City, began as a pencil artist producing meticulous figurative and surrealistic renderings on paper. In 1994 while living in Atlanta Georgia, Hines began exploring oil painting resulting in the creation of his figurative and erotic surrealistic works on canvas. In 2001 Hines’ work shifted towards abstraction, inspired by his need for greater expression and his studies of the New York school of abstract expressionism. In 2003 he moved to the San Francisco Bay area and began regularly exhibiting his abstract works.
2012 marked Hines’ return to representational painting. The new works display his love of the figure and need for eclectic expression. Hines states that his work, whether real or abstract, has always been about beauty. He expresses that beauty is a state of mind that can be seen everywhere and in anything; the curve of a figure, the surface of an object or a bold stroke of color.
Hines participates in numerous art shows, performs painting demonstrations and provides individual and group classes in acrylic painting. Hines is a full time artist and a former President and Treasurer of The Artists Guild of San Francisco. He works in Sausalito, California and lives with his wife Dinene and son Emmett.
